Tanche Olive Enabling Skincare Technologies

You may be familiar with olives piquées (pricked olives) and original olive oil. You may even know the methodical approaches in preparing table olives using salted solutions to get rid of the bitterness (oleuropein). You might not have known that Tanche olives give the “purest” olive oil, that Nyons is the north pole of olive growth, that the “Black Pearl” Tanche olives provide the fundamental advantages of our skincare ingredient technology.

The Tanche olives piquées are, for some, the caviar of olives. Tanche pricked olives are celebrated every year in December with a full day of events in the commune of Nyons.

Tanche olive is the first olive that one can eat immediately during a new picking season. It does not have to go through the common 8 month-long salted solution treatment process. Its late harvest season combined with its natural sweetness allow a special process to produce eatable olives within only 10 to 15 days after the harvest. In this accelerated process, the olives are pricked with needles and covered with salt, which completes the phenomenon of extracting the bitterness by osmosis in just a few days. The finished product is fresh, rich in aroma and nutrients, and is a must-taste when you visit Nyons!

Tanche olives produce the “purest” olive oil. Compared to 10 other common types of olive, Tanche olive oil contains the highest amount of C18:1 structure with the highest mono-unsaturation to poly-unsaturation ratio.

Olive oil's fatty acid compositions, in particular Tanche olive oil's fatty acid compositions, closely resemble those of the human skin's hydrolipidic film. Like in healthy skin and unlike other common natural oils, olive oil contains low levels of short chain saturated fatty acids (shorter than 14 carbons). Based on the resemblance in composition and the self-assembling ability of these fatty acid structures, we developed the Prolive™ line of products for skincare to bio-mimic olive oil in terms of both material composition and structural alignment. Our Prolive™ product lines provide comprehensive solutions to fundamental cosmetic formulation needs in emulsifications, emollients, and surfactants, all with the elegance of Tanche olive chemistry, which brings pleasant sensations, extreme mildness, and rich nurturing to human skin.

When milling for olive oil or processing for table olives, about 95% of antioxidating phenolic compounds go into the water stream, which is normally discarded. Our patent-pending technology enables us to recover these precious ingredients and pack them in a readily skin-available form: ProActive™ Tanche. This 100% natural product contains potent olive fruit active ingredients with proven skin beauty performance presented in our proprietary ProActive™ delivery matrix.

Tanche olive oil, which is rich in skin-compatible fatty acid glycerides and oil-soluble antioxidants as well as other nutrients, is delivered to the skincare industry with our ProSenteur™ Olive Butter. The ProSenteur™ butter platform provides pleasant skin feel, improved stability, and encapsulated aromas characteristic of the Provence region.
